Why Eat Whole Food

Why Eat A Whole Food Plant-Based Diet?

Whole food describes natural foods that are not heavily processed. That means whole, unrefined, or minimally refined ingredients.

Plant-based means food that comes from plants and doesn’t contain animal ingredients such as meat, milk, eggs, or honey.

Benefits of eating plant-based whole food:

  1. Reducing your risk of developing cancer. A 15-year-long study followed 60,000 British men and women, of which over 18,000 were vegetarians and 2,246 vegans. They found that overall cancer incidence (compared to meat-eaters) was 11 percent lower in vegetarians and 19% lower in vegans.
  2. Arthritis: Vegan diets seem particularly effective at reducing symptoms of arthritis such as pain, joint swelling, and morning stiffnessKidney function:
  3. Diabetics who substitute meat for plant protein can reduce their risk of poor kidney function
  4. Alzheimer’s disease: Observational studies show that aspects of the vegan diet may help reduce the risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease
  5. Easy weight management: People who eat a plant-based diet tend to be leaner than those who don’t, and the diet makes it easy to lose weight and keep it off—without counting calories.
  6. Disease prevention: Whole-food, plant-based eating can prevent, halt, or even reverse chronic diseases, including heart disease and type 2 diabetes.
  7. A lighter environmental footprint: A plant-based diet places much less environmental stress.
  8. Animals are not harmed and can live how they choose instead of being bred for our consumption.
  9. Quicker recovery time. When eating a plant-based diet, vegans eating a whole-food diet tend to be less sore after workouts because they experience fewer toxins from their food.
  10. Increased energy, better sleep, and overall health. When we eat a whole food plant-based diet our bodies can get more vitamins and minerals because we consume 100% plants. When we feed ourselves whole plant food, we sleep better and have increased energy throughout the day.
